WHAT IS SEA SALT SPRAY?:
Sea Salt Spray is one of the most versatile hair products that you’ll ever add to your collection. The guy who serves you your coffee every morning with incredibly beachy, tousled waves? He uses Sea Salt Spray. That man with fine, limp and lifeless hair that you see on the tube every morning has once again just stepped on at Liverpool Street, only this time his hair is textured and full of volume? He (finally) uses Sea Salt Spray!
Not so long ago, you had to spend a day at the seaside to achieve that beach-day look in your hair. These days, that somehow accidental, yet perfect look, is more achievable than you think. Although it may seem daunting having this newfound power in your hands in the form of a spray bottle, it’s pretty easy to get to grips with, once you know how to use it properly.
HOW TO USE SEA SALT SPRAY:
The first thing you need to know is that Sea Salt Spray is not for dry hair. Spraying straight into dry hair will cause you some problems, and it’s a killer to get out without washing.
There are multiple ways to achieve the look you’re going for, but for now, let’s take a look at the primary 3: Texturising, Pre Styling, and Reviving.
TEXTURISING WITH SEA SALT SPRAY:
This method is perfect for when you have just got out of the shower; you’ve just shampooed your hair, and rid yourself of all your natural oils. Like we spoke about earlier, make sure your hair is damp; a good towel dry is perfect.
Next, apply your Sea Salt Spray generously all over your hair, making sure that everywhere is covered. You can use a brush here, or work it through with your fingers, depending on the style you’re getting at.
Now, you decide whether you want to let it dry naturally, or by using a hairdryer. There is no right or wrong way of doing it: allowing it to dry itself will result in a wavier style, while using a hairdryer will give more of a lift. The choice is yours!
PRE-STYLING WITH SEA SALT SPRAY:
If you’re looking for a sharper, neater quiff, here’s where you need to be. Much the same as before, apply your spray into damp hair. Once again, you can use a brush or your fingers, but this just depends on how sharp you want your look to be.
Begin to move your hair into your desired position, then fire up the hairdryer, making sure that you are consistently directing your hair with your chosen instrument, whilst following that direction with the hairdryer.
Once dry, grab your favourite Clay/Cream/Paste, and finish off by structuring your hair, and fixing up those few strays. You will instantly notice the difference pre-styling makes!
REVIVING WITH SEA SALT SPRAY:
Here we are going to forget what I said earlier about never using Sea Salt Spray in dry hair. However, in my defence, this is only for a quick fix when you haven’t washed in a while. If your hair is looking a bit greasy, but you haven’t got the time to give it a proper wash, grab your spray and slightly dampen your hair with it; don’t coat it, just a little squirt here and there to add some moisture.
Style your hair as best you can (you know, despite the grease) and let it dry naturally. Now you’ve given your hair the power to go on for another day, although you really should have a shower at some point soon. What’s your excuse?
BENEFITS OF SEA SALT SPRAY:
We’ve all been there: spending too much money and wasting too much time trying to find the right hair product. Endless trips to the high street in hopes of finding the right one for you have left you exhausted and completely hopeless. You want something that is going to give your hair that extra something you need, something you can play about with, and change throughout the day, without completely ruining the style you perfected in the bathroom mirror this morning. This is why Sea Salt Spray is a game-changer.
The blend of salts absorbs into the hair and leaves you with much thicker-looking locks. If you already have thicker hair, the amount of volume you get from using Sea Salt Spray is insane. It allows your hair to actually take the shape of something, and gives you the power to design something you like that will last all day, unlike other products which can quickly wear away.
DO MEN REALLY USE SEA SALT SPRAY?:
There once was a time when female products completely dominated the market for Sea Salt Spray. For years, if men owned a bottle, it probably bared a bright pink colour with a picture of a mermaid on the front, and subsequently remained hidden at the bottom of their chest of drawers, waiting to be used only when wholly safe and necessary.
The truth is, Sea Salt Spray has always been just as useful for men as it has been for women – in fact, men probably find more benefits in it.
These days, you will find more and more Sea Salt Sprays catered for men, and it is quickly becoming one of the most popular men’s hair styling products worldwide.
WHY SHOULD I USE GENTS OF LONDON SEA SALT SPRAY?:
Here at Gents of London, we started our mission to create the best men’s Sea Salt Spray in the early 2010s. Carefully designing our unique formula, all the way down to the scent and the packaging, we knew we were onto something big. Fast forward to 2020 and our Sea Salt Spray is one of the most beloved on the market: all across the UK, Europe, and the USA.
What sets us aside from the competition is our detailed knowledge of hair, men’s hair specifically, and the drive to continually make sure that our products are a step above the rest. Our lightweight Sea Salt Spray binds, absorbs, and adds texture to your hair, while still allowing you to run your hands through your hair throughout the day without any residue. Our spiced mandarin scent will leave you wanting to spray it ‘just one more time’, and our aluminium silver bottle really makes a statement, wherever you choose to keep it.
To give your hair that extra slick and sharp look, try finishing it off with Gents of London Carbon Clay (you can read more about that here). These two are a match made in heaven! Or, if you’re looking for something a little different, make sure to check out our post on the Best Men’s Hair Wax.
Our Sea Salt Spray is always made in England, always ethically produced, and always vegan friendly. We already know that you’re going to love it.
